Blues, Rags And Hollers "Spider" John Koerner; Dave Ray and Tony Glover Elektra EKL-240. Mono. 1963. This is the first reissue from the original small (300 unit) Audiophile release. The 20 tracks were too long for a standard LP, especially in Mono, so 4 tracks were eliminated. Still, this album is considered an important album and lead a revival of folk music. The trio recreated and furthered the music of Southern Folk as first defined by Leadbelly and others. Listen to this and it is hard to believe these men came from the North. A very hard album to find in this issue (mono, first reissue). Samples are as played. Available on Etsy. Click on image for purchase listing. $49.50
A Treasury of Folk Music with Leadbelly, Big Bill Broonzy & Josh White Design Records DLP 247 1966. Reissue compilation album with important works of three folk & blues artists. Hard to find. Tracks are named but the performer is not given. We only know that one of the three is performing. Still it is a great album and a look back to early blues. The music has held up and even sounds fresh. Available for sale on Etsy. Click on image for purchase listing.
