A beautiful album of Portuguese Fado songs. Orchestration is performed by the Shegundo Galarza Orchestra with Portuguese Guitar by Jorge Fontes. Vocals on each of the twelve tracks is performed by a different Portuguese singer: Maria da Fe, Manuel Fernandes, Carlos Meneses, Ada de Castro, Tony de Matos, Mirene Cardinalli, Alice Maria, Saudade dos Santos, Fernanda Pinto, Ana Hortense, Francisco Martinho, and Manuel de Almeida.. The album features fascinating back notes on the origins and meaning of Fado in the Portuguese culture. The music is Latin, but different from Flamenco, or other styles from the Iberian peninsula. Very hard to find.
